1. My Network
How can I add people in my network?
EliteIndian.com automatically creates a network with your college friends, past colleagues, current colleagues
and friends you invite to the site. If you wish to add other members to your network,
you can send a request using the ‘Connect’ button in the Search page
How can I disconnect with someone in my network?
If you wish to disconnect with someone in your network,
you can send a mail to the Administrator with his/her name. We will soon provide
a ‘Disconnect’ button wherein you would be able to disconnect by yourself
2. Search members
Why can’t I see names in the search results?
EliteIndian.com respects your privacy and hence does not show member names in search results. However, this does
not restrict professional networking as all other relevant details (for instance,
designation company, education profile etc.) about the member are provided
Why can’t I write a free text mail to any member from search results?
EliteIndian.com respects every member’s privacy and hence you can write free text mails only to
your network members. If you wish to write to someone you do not know, you can use
either the mail button to indicate to the person why you wish to make contact or
you can use the connect button to send a request for connection
3. Jobs
How does eliteindian help me in getting the right job offers?
EliteIndian.com provides a unique service to you by bringing relevant jobs to your doorstep, i.e. your homepage
and your inbox without any need for you to post your CV. The fact is that most elite
Indians do not chase jobs, instead jobs chase them! So why should you post your
CV on jobsites when recruiters are eager to contact you based on your profile?
Recruiters can contact you through two methods. They can either post jobs which are then filtered
and only relevant ones shown to you on your homepage. Alternatively, recruiters
can search your profile (they cannot see your name) and can send a specific request
to you which comes into your inbox. You are then free to reply to the request if
it interests you or ignore it if it doesn’t
What types of jobs come into the Job section of my home page?
Only jobs that match you functional profile come to you
on your homepage. It shows you only the latest six postings matching the criteria
and keeps updating these based on recruiter postings
What happens when I apply to a job posting?
When you hit the apply button on a job page, a standard mail goes
to the recruiter along with your profile and contact details. Subsequent process
is offline and the recruiter can contact you directly based on your contact details
Can I upload my CV for recruiters?
Your profile is sufficient for recruiters to
make the initial contact. If you show interest by applying for the job, the recruiter
will subsequently contact you offline and request for your CV if required
What information from my profile is available to recruiters?
Recruiters can see your entire profile except for your name and contact details. Hence your identity is hidden even though
the recruiter can evaluate your profile and contact you through the site
4. Groups
How are groups formed? Can I start my own groups?
Groups are formed by the administrator of eliteindian.com and cannot be formed directly by the members. Members automatically
join the groups that are formed for Institutes and companies. For other groups,
members are free to join these based on their interests
Can I leave a group and then rejoin?
You can leave any group at any time. However, if you leave an Institute
or company group, you cannot join it again. You can leave and rejoin other groups
any time at your will
5. Group Buying
What is group buying? How does group buying work?
Group buying is a unique service of eliteindian.com that allows members to
come together for increasing their purchasing power and getting discounts on products
like cars, property etc.
For instance, if you are planning to buy a Honda car in
the next couple of months, you can join the Honda commercial group. Other elite
Indians in your location also wanting to buy a Honda car may join the same commercial
group. As the commercial group expands, your purchasing power increases. When the
commercial group reaches a standard limit (say 10 members), the commercial group
is closed and an exclusive commercial group is formed with the 10 members. This
commercial group works like any other group in eliteindian.com. You can post messages
and you can connect with the members. You can now start interacting with this exclusive
commercial group and decide how the group wishes to close the transaction of purchasing
10 Honda cars. Typically the process will work as follow.
All members introduce themselves within the group.
One member can take the lead in finding out the prices
and negotiating with the retailer/ dealer/ seller on behalf of the group. Other
members can also do their own research if they feel it would help in negotiation
The deal is closed offline with one retailer/ dealer/ seller and all 10 members
buy from the identified seller at a discount that would otherwise not have been
possible
Experience suggests that in high ticket items like cars, property etc,
discounts on bulk buying can be very significant and can give you substantial benefits
Why can’t I join more than two commercial groups?
Group buying works on the principle of mutual benefit and requires coordination and discipline. To avoid misuse, currently
the website allows members to join maximum of two commercial groups at any time.
You can join another commercial group only after one of your current groups is closed
Why can’t I leave a commercial group that I have joined?
In order to avoid any inconvenience to other members of your group, you are not allowed to leave a commercial group
once you have joined it. Hence members should join a commercial group only when
they have taken a decision to buy the specific brand identified by the group name
6. Seek members
What is seek members? How does it work?
Seek is a unique feature of eliteindian.com that allows members to reconnect with friends who are not even
on eliteindian.com. Members need to provide names and other details of their friends
who they have lost touch with. The site then flashes the names to other members
of eliteindian universe who are likely to know them. Other members can provide contact
details (company or email contact), and earn credits. When eliteindian.com gets
such details, it provides the information to the member who initiated the seek
Why should I provide information of my contacts listed in Seek?
Seek is a valuable service to eliteindian community as it helps in connecting friends who have lost touch with
each other. If you provide information, you are not only helping other members but
also earning valuable credits that can be used for services that benefit you (such as jobs, group buying etc.)
7. Inbox
What type of mails can I receive?
EliteIndian.com respects your privacy and hence allows only pre-configured mails to come to your
inbox from people who are not part of your network. Other members writing to you
cannot see your e-mail nor can they write any text mails. They can only indicate
to you the context in which they want to connect with you and you are free to reply
or ignore the request. You can receive only four types of mails:
1. Job offers (from recruiters)
2. Invites for connection (from any member)
3. Requests for references (from your connections)
4. Networking mails (from any member)
How do I send a mail?
You can send a mail using the mail button in ‘My Network’, ‘Search’ or ‘Group Messages’
sections. You can write freely to your network members while for others, you can
only send pre-configured messages
8. Credit & debit system
What is credit and debit system?
How does it work?
The credit and debit system in eliteindian.com is
a unique system that provides credits to you when you help grow the elite Indian
universe and debits when you use the system for your benefit.
For instance, when you invite a friend to join eliteindian.com, you get credits when your friend joins.
You can use these credits for connecting with other members, responding to job offers
etc.
9. Invite
Why should I invite my friends?
Inviting your friends helps you to grow your eliteindian network and keeps you updated about your friends’ career moves,
birthdays etc. Inviting also gives you credits that are required for using various
services of eliteindian.com such as jobs, group buying etc.
10. Edit Profile
How and why should profile completeness be increased?
Profile completeness can be increased
by providing information related to your past experience, date of birth and by getting
references. By providing past experiences, your network will automatically grow
in seconds, by providing your date of birth you can get birthday alerts of your
connections, by getting references you can increase your credibility
What is a reference? How do I request for a reference?
A reference helps in building credibility among other elite Indians as well as recruiters who may be searching for an appropriate
profile. You can ask former colleagues, clients or business partners who are part
of your network to provide a reference. On sending the request for reference, the
person receiving the request has to simply accept it and your profile will start
showing the reference
